On the 11th of March 2011, a series of powerful earthquakes struck north-east Japan on Friday afternoon. This triggered warnings of tsunamis as high as 10 metres and shook many buildings in Tokyo.
Four hours after the earthquake, Kesenai started a fundraiser to help the people affected by the earthquake and subsequent tsunamis.
We contacted Globalgiving and we were offered a partnership, and so the donation went to the aid communities like the International Medical Corps, Save the Children, Japan Platform, Peace Winds and other organizations on the ground to provide support. In less than 24 hours we raised over $1000, and in one week over $7000.
